Man arrested after Fort Hall woman shot
Fort Hall officials have released more details in Friday evening’s shooting.
A spokeswoman said that just before 7 p.m., Lorenzo Quagigant Jr. came to the Fort Hall Police Department after-hour lobby and called dispatch. He said he had shot Sherri Cerino in the chest.
Tribal officials said Quagigant had shot Cerino in the chest at his residence at the Wig Wam Trailer courts in Fort Hall.
Quagigant was arrested and charged tribally for unlawful use of a weapon and intoxicated person. The gun used in this incident was recovered and is now in police evidence.
Cerino was taken into surgery at Portneuf Medical Center and was later transported to the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City for further treatment. As of Monday morning, she was in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing.
