Dentist to offer money for Halloween candy

A local dentist is asking kids to bring in their candy this Halloween, but he doesn’t plan on tricking them out of their treats.

Dr. Vernon Gaffner will give kids $1 for each pound of candy they bring in on the day after Halloween.

All non-chocolate candy will go to Operation Gratitute, which sends care packages to troops overseas. Chocolate will go to local charities.

Gaffer hopes that the buy-back will also benefit the children.

“We know that obesity is on the rise. Childrens decay is on the rise. So we like kids to enjoy Halloween! We like them to get the treats,” Gaffner said.

The buy-back is happening this Thursday between 3:30 and 5 p.m. at the Gentle Dentists office on Woodruff in Idaho Falls.
