Center Management Inc. plans Snow King expansion

Center Management, Inc. Will seek a $1.5 million Wyoming Business Council grant to expand the Snow King Sports and Events Center in Jackson, Wyoming. The non-profit operator of the Center said improvements would include new conference facilities and a second sheet of ice.

In addition to the grant, the expansion would be funded by matching funds raised from the community. CMI will seek Town support in its application to the WBC. Business Committed grants are awarded to organizations that have demonstrated the management and financial capacity to expand community services while increasing the number of jobs that otherwise would not exist.

“We are committed to expand programs and services for Jackson youth as well as conference and convention attendees,” said John Valiante, president of CMI. “We believe our demonstrated capacity to utilize WBC and Town of Jackson funding effectively for recent improvements at the Center significantly enhances our chances of a successful grant.”

Center Management assumed operation of the Center last year after the previous operator experienced financial difficulty. Although posting a net operating loss during its first year, CMI said the Center is now in a positive operating position with excess demand for ice time and strong interest in conference and convention use.

CMI will submit its grant application March 1, 2013.
