WYDOT plans Teton Pass improvements
Engineers are working to make the Teton Pass a little safer for drivers.
The Wyoming Department of Transportation will be adding two arrester systems to the east side of the pass, near Wilson.
An arrester is a series of nets that catch runaway trucks.
They’ll be installed on the right side of the road, which WYDOT engineers say will be more effective than the truck ramps on the left side of the road.
“A truck would no longer have to cross traffic and avoid hitting any cars,” said WYDOT engineer Bob Hammond.
WYDOT will not start on the project until 2017, due to budget issues.
The project will cost about $3 million.
