Teton school board to seek supplemental levy

The Teton District 401 School Board in Driggs will ask patrons to renew a two year, $3.1 million per year supplemental levy at the polls March 12th.

Assuming no additional state funding support, the board would also make another $500 thousand in budget cuts. All staff salaries could be cut by 2.5 percent.

While all programs and expenses would be on the table, Superintendent Monte Woolstenhume said it will be the board’s objective to make those cuts as far away from the classroom as possible.

The levy would require a simple majority of 50.1 percent to pass.

Three public meetings have been set to review the levy and answer questions from the public. They are scheduled:

Monday, Feb. 18, 7 pm at Tetonia Elementary
Monday, Feb. 25, 7 pm, in Driggs at the School District Office board room
Monday, March 4, 7 pm at Victor Elementary

The school district has an existing $2.6 million supplemental levy on the books. The new proposal seeks an additional $500 thousand in revenue.
