Another Blackfoot School Board trustee resigns

A Blackfoot School Board trustee who was the subject of a recall effort resigned on Monday.

Jenny Hong’s resignation follows that of former board chairman Scott Reese, who stepped down last week.

Both were subject of a recall petition after a $220,000 buyout of former Superintendent Scott Crane’s contract, which was carried out behind closed doors. The separation agreement prompted the recall petition from some Blackfoot patrons.

“I am truly grateful for the opportunity that I have had to serve the children of our district. I have always done my best to make decisions with the board for educating our children,” Hong said in a written statement. “Though some may disagree, I know that the decision that we made as a board with respect to the separation agreement was what was best for our district and our children. I wish the other board members the best as they continue to serve our children and know they will continue to make the best decisions for the district.”
