Idaho travels for spring break
Some local school districts and colleges are kicking off their first day of spring break, but in eastern Idaho our weather really hasn’t been feeling so “springy” outside. Is that going to put a damper on your plans?
The snow and below average temperatures Friday has Moms, Dads, and kids ready to board their planes and say goodbye to snowy, cold Idaho.
“So excited to get to warmth. I love warm weather, I don’t really know why I decided to stay in Idaho Falls,” said Alesha Johnson, a fourth-grade teacher at Falls Valley Elementary.
Johnson said she can’t be more excited to get out of the chilly Idaho weather and out to sunny, warm California for her spring break.
“We’re starting in Los Angeles and ending up in San Diego,” said Johnson.
The first three days of spring have certainly not been kind to us in eastern Idaho and western Wyoming.Friday’s highs bottomed out into the lower 30s thanks to cloud cover and snow showers plaguing the Snake River Plain.
Teton Pass has been covered in snow from multiple snow showers this week. And how Rexburg has new snow thanks to a snow band that parked over the Upper Valley Thursday night.
Even fourth-grader Kylan Albertson doesn’t like the snowy weather.
“There’s not enough to play in,” said Albertson.
But he’s not too concerned — he’s going to San Diego for his spring break.
“I’m going to Sea World, the whaling house, and the San Diego Zoo,” said Alberston.
Meanwhile Kansas-bound Braidin Wallace is glad to be out of school.
“I’m not going to miss it at all,” said Wallace.
But nothing compares to the Hopkins family. They’re traveling to Hawaii.
Mom Jacquie is just glad that her spring break from Idaho State University lines up with her children’s spring break for the third year in a row to get out of the cold weather with her family.
“We can’t wait to play at the beach and play in the sand, and sun tan,” said Jacquie Hopkins.
But if you’re staying in Idaho for spring break, fear not, this upcoming week we’re looking to be back into the 50s.
Some school districts, like Idaho Falls School District 91, don’t have spring break until the first week of April.
