High school students perform random acts of kindness
“Random Acts of Kindness” was the theme of an assembly at Hillcrest High School on Tuesday morning.
More than a dozen female students sat on a stage to get their long hair cut off in front of the entire school.
The hair will be donated to Locks of Love, an organization that makes wigs for children undergoing cancer treatment who lost their hair.
“It makes me very proud of our school. Very proud of our school,” said Linda Hostert, a teacher at Hillcrest who organized the event. “A lot of girls — even today, three girls just at the last minute decided to donate their hair because they wanted to be a part of it.”
Students also donated money to help victims of child abuse.
The acts of kindness were inspired by a nationwide effort to make the world a better place in the wake of December’s Newtown, Conn. shooting massacre.
