Rigby, American Falls awarded federal grant

American Falls and Rigby are among 12 Idaho communities receive thousands of federal dollars for specific projects.

Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter announced the to receive Community Development Block Grant awards Wednesday.

American Falls was awarded $350,000 to replace and upside water lines in the downtown area.

Rigby got $118,000 for improvements at the Senior Citizen and Community Center. It will help install new flooring, new exterior doors, new furnace and A/C unit, energy efficient lighting, a walk-in refrigerator/freezer, exterior fascia and parking lot seal coat.

In addition, Burley got $150,000 for improvements to its senior center.

The grant program is funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by the state. For details about the awards to the other 10 communities, go to http://goo.gl/EJYm0.
