Taylor Marrot: Distinguished Student
Whether it’s sports, drama or music, being a part of a close-knit group is one of the most memorable high school experiences. That has been the case with this week’s United Dairymen of Idaho Distinguished Student Award recipient, Hillcrest high school senior Taylor Marrot.
The role of Jean Valjean in “Les Miserables” is a demanding one, especially for a high school student, but Taylor is up to the challenge.
“I love every minute of it,” Taylor said. “It’s been a lot of work, but it’s been so much fun.”
Performing has been a big part of Taylor’s life. He’s been in choir and plays throughout high school. He says he used to be shy, but being in front of people has changed that. That’s why he feels it’s good to get involved in extra-curricular activities. Taylor is also involved in swim team and water polo. He likes the challenge of the sport.
“It’s very hard on you because you’re treading water the whole time, but you still get to work as a team,” Taylor said.
Taylor wants to become a pediatric nurse or musical therapist in the future. But looking back, he has this advice about the high school experience.
“Stay true to your friends because it’s really hard to go through high school by yourself, but as long as you have someone else there helping you with it, it’s very important,” Taylor said.
If you go to the Hillcrest auditorium at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, you can see “Les Mis” with Taylor Marrott – this week’s United Dairymen of Idaho Distinguished Student Award recipient.
