Tapp seeks post conviction relief
Convicted murderer Christopher Tapp is suing the state of Idaho for post conviction relief.
Angie Dodge was killed in Idaho Falls in 1997. Tapp was convicted of the crime, largely on the strength of a confession he gave to police. Tapp now claims he was pressured into giving that confession.
In Idaho Falls Friday, Tapp’s attorney, public defender John Thomas, asked Magistrate Joel Tingey to allow him to conduct discovery and depose certain members of law enforcement. He claimed police reports were inadequate.
Thomas said he wanted more information about meetings police held with other people involved in the case. Judge Tingey ruled that Thomas could file a motion specifically identifying the people he would like to depose and why it would be necessary.
