Man arrested on sex, drug charges in Idaho Falls
A California man is facing felony charges after allegedly touching a woman inappropriately.
Elijah D. Schmidt, 19, of Quartz Hill, Calif., was arrested after police were called to a disturbance in a car parked at the 3200 block of Outlet Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said Schmidt had inappropriately touched a 36-year-old woman.
Schmidt was arrested on a charge of sexual penetration by a foreign object.
Officers also discovered he was driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Los Angeles. Schmidt was also under the influence of marijuana, they said. As a result, he was also arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and being under the influence of a controlled substance in public.
Schmidt is being held in the Bonneville County Jail.
Police would not release further details, citing the need to protect the identity of the victim.
