County seeks input on development plan

People living in Jackson Hole are weighing in on the county’s comprehensive development strategy.

Commissioners for Teton County, Wyo., have developed a set of concepts on land development regulations. This week, they’re presenting those ideas as a way to manage community growth.

The first of two open houses happened Wednesday in the county administration building.

Both the public and private sectors seem to agree on how they want to see their community developed.

“Right now, 60 percent of our growth is occurring in our wildlife habitat and scenic vistas,” said Jeff Daugherty, the county planning director. “We need to shift that so that 60 percent of (growth) happens in the Town of Jackson.”

“(We want to allow) protection of the resources and protection of the great assets we have here, from a scenery and from a resource standpoint, and at the same time allowing sensible development,” said Jeff Golightly, CEO of the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce.

The second open house will be Friday in the commission chambers from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
