Caleb James
Caleb James joined Local News 8 and KIDK Eyewitness News in August 2011 from his hometown of Boulder, Colo.
Caleb’s journalism career started at an early age. He began in management when he published his own magazine at age 8. Production was limited. It was printed at a local copy shop, and although distribution didn’t extend far beyond immediate family, it was given rave reviews. It was a pretty good deal for 25 cents a copy.
After that first venture into journalism came years of adventure for Caleb. His passion for telling stories took him to the war-torn Palestinian West Bank city of Ramallah, the Red Shirt protests of Bangkok, and the devastation of a massive earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand.
His first paid job was in the newsroom of his hometown daily newspaper, the Daily Camera.
Caleb is an award-winning reporter. In 2012, he was recognized by the Idaho Press Club with first place awards in general news reporting, and feature reporting.
Outside the newsroom, he serves on the board of directors for Idaho Falls-based Breaking Boundaries. The mission of Breaking Boundaries is to help those with HIV/AIDS in Southeast Idaho live a life of independence and dignity, through direct financial support, and also to increase awareness and prevention by providing of HIV/AIDS education to the community.
He lives in Ammon with his weird, food-a-holic labradoodle, Wilma. If it’s the weekend, look for them in Jackson or on the banks of the Snake River.
