Pocatello man arrested in Wyo. bank robbery

Police said a Pocatello man robbed an Afton, Wyo., bank Monday.

Afton Police Chief Randy Hadderlie said Donald Sample, 56, entered First National Bank in Afton shortly after 4 p.m. and handed a teller a note stating that he was robbing the bank.

Sample, also known as Donald Sheriff, did not display a weapon. He left with an undisclosed amount of money, Hadderlie said.

With help from tips from the public, Afton Police, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Wyoming Highway Patrol found Sample and arrested him on Highway 89 at the summit of Salt River Pass, 15 miles south of Afton, 20 minutes after the robbery.

He was being held in the Lincoln County Jail in Kemmerer on Tuesday.
