City: Chickens in town would need officer
The City of Shelley wants its citizens to decide if chickens should be allowed in residential zoning areas.
The city clerk said to have a new chicken code, the city needs to have a way to enforce the rules, so on September’s utility bill, folks will be asked if they are willing to pay more property taxes to pay for an animal control officer.
If people say yes, then the city will ask another question on November’s bill – if they want to allow the chickens within city limits.
