WWII grenade found in Bonneville County
A property owner cleaning out a Bonneville County garage found a World War II-era hand grenade, which has caused a partial road closure.
The owner of the property on the 4000 block of North Ammon Road placed the grenade into a 5-gallon bucket and took it to an open gravel lot.
As of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, one lane on U.S. Highway 26, eastbound, is closed. A Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office bomb tech had barricaded the grenade by surrounding it with sandbags.
The Mountain Home Air Force Base crew arrived on the scene around 6 p.m. They took the grenade to a nearby landfill to be disposed of.
