Banquet honors Disability Mentor Day

High school students with disabilities got a chance to celebrate achieving their dreams Friday.

East Idaho Technical College hosted a banquet to recognize these students as they participated in Disability Mentoring Day earlier this week. They spent the day with professionals in the area.

Friday, students were given certificates of participation for their experience, a reward that Disability Services Coordinator Irene Jones believes was well-deserved.

“You know, some jobs seem glamorous until we actually get to do the job and then it’s not what we thought it was. It’s a great opportunity for them to go out and learn,” she said.

The students were also encouraged to share their experiences, thanking their mentors for a very busy week.
