Fort Hall escapee caught in Pocatello

Pocatello policecaughtan escapee from Fort Hall Corrections around 9:45 p.m. Monday.

According to police,a citizen reported theyhad seenNathaniel Neville Yabeney in the area of Vaughn Road and described him as wearing orange shoes. Pocatello police moved into the area and pursued him on foot over several fences.

According to reports, Yabeney jumped over a wall and fell about 20 feet to the sidewalk below.Officers followed him into the Belmont Care Center at 3625 Vaughn. He was apprehended on the upper floor and arrested on resisting and obstructing charges.

He was transported to Portneuf Medical Center.

Pocatello police also arrested Yabeney’s girlfriend, Kelly Eraina Plentywounds, 35, of Fort Hall on charges of resisting and obstructing.

Yabeney, 35, escaped from corrections officers in the area of Portneuf Medical Center on Monday around 1:45 p.m, police said. According to a news release from the Shoshone-Bannock tribes, Yabeney was escorted by a Fort Hall Corrections officer to the hospital for a wellness checkup, and on the way back to the vehicle, he faked leg and head pains and escaped on foot from the officer.

Yabeney had been held at Fort Hall on domestic-related charges and for eluding police.He also has active warrants from Bannock County.
