Motorcyclist hospitalized in crash near Chubbuck

The motorcyclist who was in an accident north of Chubbuck on Wednesday is in very critical condition, Portneuf Regional Medical Center said.

Idaho State Police said the crash occurred around 6:30 p.m., when Michael Deschamps, 51, of Pocatello, was traveling south on a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle, and Lynnsie Togiai, 20, of Blackfoot, was traveling north on Hiline in a 2008 Toyota Yaris. Police said Togiai was turning left onto Tyhee, failed to yield to oncoming traffic and the motorcycle struck the passenger side of the car.

Deschamps was not wearing a helmet and was transported by ground ambulance, ISP said. It is unknown if Togiai was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The crash is under investigation by the ISP.
