Otter weighs in on Idaho Falls mayor race

Idaho’s governor is supporting an Idaho Falls mayoral candidate.

Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter endorsed Rebecca Casper in a statement Friday.

“The First Lady and I wholeheartedly support Rebecca Casper as the future mayor of the City (of) Idaho Falls,” he said. “Rebecca has demonstrated clear vision, strong principles, and the ability to build bridges that will continue to make Idaho Falls an ideal place to live, work, and raise a family. These are also some of the reasons why I recently appointed her to serve on the LINE 2.0 Commission. I encourage you to vote for her Nov. 5.”

“I am flattered the governor and first lady are watching this race and grateful they recognize me as the right choice for Idaho Falls,” said Casper in the news release. “We share a commitment to an economically strong Idaho and believe in the prudent fiscal management of public resources.”

Other Idaho Falls hopefuls for mayor are Timothy Downs, Brian LaPray and Sharon Parry. For more on the candidates, see our story from earlier this week at http:// bit.ly/1hgSvNG.

Voting day is Nov. 5.
