Man charged with manslaughter in deadly crash
An Idaho Falls man has been cited in connection with an accident that killed another driver in September.
On Thursday morning, Antonio Nunez of Idaho Falls was issued a misdemeanor citation for vehicular manslaughter.
In the Sept. 23 incident, Byron Sorensen was traveling west on Sunnyside in a 1994 Jeep Cherokee. Antonio Nunez was traveling east on Sunnyside at Channing in the left turn lane driving a 2010 Dodge Avenger. Nunez tried to turn left onto Channing and collided with Sorensen’s Jeep, causing the Jeep to overturn, Idaho Falls police said. The Jeep continued and struck a bicyclist, Jason Burnett, who was stopped at the northwest corner of the intersection.
Sorenson was ejected and later pronounced dead at East Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Burnett and Nunez sustained minor injuries from the crash.
