Special needs students prepare for real world

Special needs student from all over Idaho received life-long skills at the Tools for Life Conference Thursday.The conference offers a full guide to resources that can help students throughout life after high school.

Katrina Eggleston attended her first conference three years ago and said she has been hooked ever since.

“When I was younger I was diagnosed with a brain injury from an accident. So my mom started to look around for resources,” she said. “One of the booths, when I first started coming, showed me how to get my teaching degree so I could be able to teach kids art.”

The conference also offered break-out sessions, where students were given real-life scenarios. Conference leaders said students will have a better idea of what it takes to live in a world that isn’t always forgiving.
