City council gets power crash course

The new city council got a crash course in the Idaho Falls Power utility Friday.

They held a special training session that will take place every week over the next couple of months. Council members were briefed on last years utilities financial report, Power forecasts and an overview of the North Loop Project.

“It’s just at this point, it’s a first look at some of the information and the background information on how the utility functions and some of the challenges we’re facing,” said IFP general manager Jackie Flowers. “It’s an opportunity for them to get out in the field and see first hand what the staff is working on and start to take a look at a little more detail.”

The city said this is the perfect opportunity to get the three newly elected officials a chance to catch up on this city matter.
