Suicide hotline expands hours

Idaho’s Suicide Prevention Hotline announced it’s expanding its hours.

This week it added shifts that run from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The program also announced it hopes to add weekends later this spring as soon as its next group of volunteers is trained.

Idaho currently has the sixth highest suicide rate in the U.S., and suicide is the second leading cause of death for adolescents and young adults in the state.

The number for the hotline is (800) 273-TALK

If you are interested in being a volunteer, contact Nina Leary at (208) 258-6992. Training starts April 26.
