Relay for Life set for Friday in Idaho Falls

You may have noticed purple ribbons lining Memorial Drive in Idaho Falls this week. Those ribbons are a part of the Paint the Town Purple Campaign, which recognizes the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Relay for Life is an overnight community fundraising event where participants celebrate beating cancer and remember those who have been affected by the disease. The event will begin with an opening ceremony in Idaho Falls, followed by a survivor recognition ceremony.

“We’re celebrating survivors and who hasn’t had cancer touch someone in their lives so we are just there to celebrate and have a good time. We also remember those who have lost their battle and we fight back with a fundraiser,” said Event Chair Jennifer Moulton.

The money from the fundraiser will go to cancer research. The event is Friday at 6 p.m. at Bonneville High School’s Thunder Stadium. Admission is free.

For more information, call Moulton at 208-716-0878.
