Not everyone gets Labor Day off
Local law enforcement, firefighters and hospital staff are still on duty but to them Labor Day is just like any other day.
“It’s part of our job. First responders have to be 24/7 365 days a year and it is something we sign up for and it’s something we understand,” says Sgt. Chris Smith, Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.
Smith’s K-9, Bart, was also on duty today.
“This profession is known to work holidays, you work weekends, so people plan around that and plan that into their lives,” says April Walker, house supervisor at EIRMC.
Firefighters were also working their normal 48 hour shifts.
“We went this morning and did some training. Up on the foothills we did some off-road vehicle driving training,” says Cpt. John Tenorowicz
