Local spray paint artist performs at fair
A Blackfoot native is performing spray paint art shows at the Eastern Idaho State Fair this week.
Matt Sorensen performs at fairs and conventions throughout the country. He uses spray paint knives, fire and cardboard to create incredible paintings that take only 7 to 10 minutes.
It’s an underground style of art that got its start in Mexico City. That’s where Sorensen first came across it 17 years ago.
“This is before you had Google and Facebook,” said Sorensen. “None of those things existed, so there was no way to look and see how they did it without buying the pictures, so I bought a couple of pictures, messed around and figure out my own style of doing it.”
Sorensen has videos on YouTube, that show the process. He has over 3 million views.
