City of Idaho Falls meets for strategic planning

The city leaders of Idaho Falls met for strategic planning today.

City Council and other city leaders decided this session was necessary after elected officials looked over the budget process this summer.

City officials discussed their roles and also what they expected out of one another.

Mayor of Idaho Falls, Rebecca Casper said this meeting was vital to help the city get to their vision.

“As a council, as elected officials we want to be able to work toward the policies that we enact with the money that the city spends, tax dollars have to be spent for a purpose,” said Casper.

Accountability, trust, and clear communication were all big talking points in the meeting.

City Council President Mike Lehto says he believes effective communications is key to moving forward.

“It’s basically honest dialogue, back and forth with no ulterior motives and hidden agendas,” says Lehto.

The group is set to have another strategic planning session sometime in November.
