ISU saves $7M; reinvests in school upgrades
Idaho State University leaders say strong fiscal responsibility is how the school saved $7 million, which it now plans to reinvest in several upgrades.
The school will renovate a lecture hall, 20 classrooms and buy 200 new computers.
“It could include everything from lighting to paint, new carpet,” said Adrienne King, spokeswoman for ISU.
Student Body President Kyle Son said the upgrades will make a big difference.
“We’re now able to enhance the student experience in these classrooms through making them more comfortable,” said Son.
King said the school is able to make these upgrades without raising tuition because of ISU’s tight spending over the last few years.
“Everyone last year was under their projected budgets, which is fantastic,” said King.
King said the upgrades will likely begin at the start of summer.
“Every Bengal has something to be proud of in these changes,” said Son.
ISU is now on track to reach its reserve target and school leaders said they hope to stay on track without significant tuition increases.
