Blackfoot clears water purity tests
Blackfoot detected coliform bacteria in its water earlier this month, but it is no longer an issue, the city said Wednesday.
On Nov. 4, three of 10 water samples tested positive for the bacteria. After restesting confirmed coliforms were in the water, the city performed directional flushing and ran a chlorine generator.
Repeated tests on Nov 10 and 11 showed coliforms were no longer in the city’s water supply.
The city said this type of bacteria is not itself harmful, but is an indicator that other, potentially harmful bacteria may be present.
The city said it wanted everyone who drinks its water to know about the situation. It stressed this situation never was an emergency, and people do not need to boil their water.
