Finalizing the Teton Regional Development Plan
After several years of research and $1.5 million of federal grant money, development leaders in Madison, Fremont, Teton Counties Idaho, and Teton County Wyoming are finalizing development plans for the regions future.
It’s called the Teton View Regional Plan, and its goal is to create a sustainable future for the communities in Jackson Hole, Teton Valley, and the Henry’s Fork watershed. Developers have identified and come up with dozens of options that would help the area grow.
“We produced in the end 60 projects that we can carry forward,” said Tom Cluff a developer of Fremont County. “Cities, counties, and communities can work separately or together in order to implement things they need.”
The 60 projects are as varied and wide reaching as the mountains that dominate the region. Some are local, such as a proposal to improve the Greenway in Saint Anthony. Others are large in scope, such as a possible bike trail connecting Teton National Park with Yellowstone National Park. Some even involve improving living conditions within communities themselves.
“One of the projects is working with habitat for humanities in a neighborhood revitalization initiative,” said Jan Brown a special projects manager of Fremont County. “That takes a look at homes that need exterior improvement or possible some weatherization.”
With all the possible projects, the commission of developers want your input. There isn’t enough money to do all of the projects, so city and county leaders must pick and choose. People can click here to visit the commission’s website to find out more information about the different initiatives.
