Idaho Falls company rolls out 3-D body scanner
A local company is using 3-D technology to promote fitness throughout the valley.
Brian Minner and Carolyn Tyger, who own Idaho Falls-based My4DHealth, said they have been enthusiastic about fitness and jumped on the opportunity to introduce the first technology of its kind in both Utah and Idaho.
“A mirror, a tape measure, a photograph doesn’t do what a 3-D image does,” said Minner. “There has never been a way to capture so much data about your body in so short a time.”
The 3-D body scan uses infrared technology to extract 450 different measurements. The scan uses bust, waist, hips and thigh measurements to help users keep track of their progress throughout weight loss regimens, as well as any physical changes that a user may be experiencing.
“It can track things like body composition studies, posture analytics, population statistics, population health risks, childhood development during pregnancy,” said Minner. “This enables people to catch changes in their body much earlier than they would otherwise.”
Minner and Tyger are working to use measurements to calculate overall body fat. The company is currently on tour in Utah, but will return to the Idaho Falls Apple Athletic Club March 16.
