Valedictorian wins Distinguished Student Award

Savannah Williams is in the final stages of rehearsals for Snake River’s production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”

“It’s amazing! It’s definitely one of my favorites so far and the cast is phenomenal this year,” Williams said.

Williams plays the role of one of the narrators. Associating with the other talented performers is a thrill for Williams.

“I like the people,” Williams said. “The people you get to associate with are all wonderful, and they share the same passions you do so it kind of makes you like a family.”

Williams is also in the choir, she’s an award-winning pianist, and she plays organ, violin, accordion and ukelele. She takes dual enrollment and advanced placement classes and gets perfect grades.

“I have always striven to keep my grades up and take the most challenging classes that I can and just get everything out of high school that I can academically,” Williams said.

Looking back on high school Williams says one of the most important pieces of advice she can give is to not compare yourself to others.

“Don’t ever diminish yourself comparing yourself to someone else, or raise yourself above someone else, because you just can’t win either way,” Williams said.
