Energy Department issues RFP for Idaho Cleanup Project
The U.S. Department of Energy has issued its final Request for Proposal for the Idaho Cleanup Project. The winner of the $1 billion, five-year contract will complete the majority of cleanup in Idaho and place remaining nuclear materials in safe storage.
The performance based contract includes cost-plus-incentives and hybrid fee structures for meeting milestones and performance incentives.
According to the department, the RFP includes the following ongoing Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project and Idaho Cleanup Project work: “completing treatment of the liquid sodium bearing waste, stabilizing and storing spent nuclear fuel and high-level waste; dispositioning transuranic waste; retrieving and dispositioning targeted buried waste; closing the Idaho Nuclear Technology and Engineering Center tank farm; maintaining the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act remedial actions; and operating and maintaining the INTEC, the Radioactive Waste Management Complex, and the Radioactive Scrap and Waste Facility (RSWF) facility infrastructure. This procurement will be full and open competition, with a five year period of performance.”
DOE will accept proposals until May 12.
