Hillcrest performer wins distinguished student award
Kiera Marrott has been in a number of Hillcrest High School musicals, But “Wizard of Oz” is especially enjoyable.
“I just like how fun it is, how bright and colorful everyone is,” Marrott said “Since it’s not a serious play we can laugh and joke around with each other.”
Marrott enjoys performing in general, but especially to role of the witch.
“I like that people can come and see me without actually seeing the real me and that I can entertain them and they can have a good time while I’m having a good time,” Marrott said.
Marrott is also involved in a swimming and water polo team. She feels strongly about the importance of being physically active.
“When you do sports in school you’re getting your exercise and it’s fun and you’re doing something you love while still being healthy and active,” Marrott said.
Iit’s demanding to be involved in sports and theater and focus on academics, but Marrott tries her best to keep pay attention to grades.
“Grades are really important to me right now, especially going into college to get into a good college,” Marrott said.
Marrott’s best advice is to achieve a balance.
“Academics are important but you still need to have that fun time,” Marrott said.
