Modern quartet performs for local area students

The Idaho Falls Arts Council presented the modern TorQ Percussion Quartet at the Colonial Theater, Friday.

TorQ is composed of four classically trained musicians who combine instruments ranging from xylophones to cajons and gongs. TorQ also specializes in entertaining kids and teaching them about instruments.

Friday the group performed for local schools at the Colonial Theater. They also traveled to several high schools within Idaho Falls School District 91 to work with band students, providing modern techniques.

“We bring what we feel is a very unique artist group,” IFAC Executive Director Brandi Newton said. “We want to find as many avenues where they can touch our community as possible. So whether it’s the 1,000 third-graders that are with us this morning or whether we can take it to high school students to continue their inspiration and their journey with music. We want to educate our community and enrich its quality of life.”
