New recycling bins for ISU

A grant helped Idaho State University buy 50 new recycling bins.

They have been placed in buildings surrounding the university’s quad in high-traffic areas. ISU’s Facilities Services Department hopes by putting them in these spots, more recyclable material will be put in them.

Each bin is clearly marked with specific recyclables.

Next to the bins, you’ll find a garbage can. There’s a little strategy in that placement.

“As long as we have a garbage can near the recycling, we think people will not throw away as much,” said Steve McMichael, recycling lead worker at ISU. “They’ll see the garbage plus the recycling and they will put things where they need to go.”

The bins were bough through a Keep America Beautiful and Coca-Cola Foundation grant.
