Special Olympics Idaho seeking donations

Special Olympics Idaho is asking for your help to fund athletes for the upcoming season.

In a special fundraising effort throughout football season called “SO Huddle Up”, Special Olympics is asking for donations of either $3, $30, or $300.

“I have support from my family, my friends, and my team and the support from the community and everything would be a lot more better because then we’d have a lot more support,” said Desaray Garrick, a Special Olympics athlete.

This year has been especially difficult for Special Olympics financially as they pay for facilities to train their athletes before the big game.

“Most of our athletes don’t have the ability, not because they don’t have the ability but they don’t have the opportunity to participate in sports like at school or after school programs and sometimes special olympics is all they have sports related, ” said Holly Giglio, Eastern Idaho Special Olympics regional director.
