Black bear, cub break into Wyoming house

A west-central Wyoming couple had some unwelcome house guests over the weekend – a black bear and her cub.

Teton County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at about 1 p.m. Sunday. The bears reportedly crashed through a screen door of a house near Hoback Junction, south of Grand Teton National Park.

A woman fled to a bathroom to call for help while her husband locked himself and their pets in the garage.

Officers photographed the bears on a carpeted stairway and in the living room.

The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports (http://bit.ly/1M6ovpB ) Wyoming Game and Fish tranquilized the sow and trapped the cub.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Matt Carr says a poor berry harvest is pushing bears into residential areas in search of food as they prepare for hibernation.
