After 40 years, agriculture education returns to District 93
There is a new program for students interested in agriculture in the Bonneville School District.
The classes are offered through the district’s technical careers high school.
Many of the kids say this program is a special opportunity because their parents weren’t able to participate in a program like this when they were in school.
The students combine classroom work with hands-on experience.
“It gives them a whole overview of what agriculture’s about. What options are there, careers, where they can go,” agriculture instructor, Chris Ball said.
The district also has a brand new FFA chapter.
In one month of competing they placed first overall in individual livestock.
Another student placed sixth in dairy individual.
The group placed second overall in the live stock competition at the University of Idaho.
The district is hoping to expand the program next year, offering veterinary and aquiculture courses.
