Idaho Fish and Game captures three grizzlies near Chester

Idaho Fish and Game Department personnel trapped three grizzly bears in the Chester area of Fremont County Thursday morning.

Department spokesman Gregg Losinski said a sow and two yearling bears had been getting into apple trees in the Ashton area.

The bears were originally from the Cody, Wyoming area. They were caught there and released Jedediah Smith Wilderness on September 21st. After that the bears wandered into eastern Idaho. The three bears were in trouble once before for wandering near populated areas with apple trees in Wyoming.

The female sow was euthanized and the health of the surviving yearlings, one male and one female, is being assessed to determine how they will be dealt with.
