Packer presses for medical education expansion
Idaho State Representative, Kelley Packer, District 28 has been working hard for 3 years to expand the medical field. Giving more doctors to medical fields where they’re most demanded.
In order to that, she plans to develop solutions to get pre-med students throughout Idaho, better opportunities to stay in state. Which will allow Idaho to turn around its medical shortage state-wide.
“And that cost to gather that research is 30,000. I’ve had some that have asked me why didn’t I go to the state and ask them for that money. And there’s two reason. 1.they’ve spent anywhere between 200-300 thousand in 2006 to 2008 to gather the same information — validating our need.”
Packer has opened a Go-Fund-Me page where she hopes the community can donate to her research. Her goal is to reach $30,000 by January 1, 2016. After that, she’ll have enough research to represent to state officials – in order to develop solutions and go through with her plan.
