Pocatello shooting suspect in custody
A man who fired shots at Pocatello Police officers is under arrest and being held in the Bannock County jail.
Zachery L. Davis, 24, fired three rounds, striking a patrol vehicle in the driver’s door. According to reports, officers were trying to stop Davis’ vehicle on Shore Road at around 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said Davis was wanted for outstanding grand theft and eluding warrants.
They said Davis fired at officers and fled the area on foot. Police called in their Immediate Response Unit, K-9’s, and the Bannock County Sheriff’s office Bearcat to help search for the suspect.
A reverse 911 call was sent out to warn people living in the area to stay indoors for their own safety.
Police officers assigned to patrol the safety of students of bus stops spotted Davis in the area of 5th and Jason Wednesday morning. He was arrested at around 8 a.m. at the Common Cents convenience store at 3957 S. 5th Avenue.
After arresting Davis officers continued to search for the gun he was using. The gun was found just before 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Another reverse 911 call was sent out to inform residents that the area is safe again and they no longer need to stay indoors.
