It’s a Record for ATM fees

According to an annual survey done by Bankrate’s, the average fee for using an ATM out of a banking network is a record $4.52.

These fees are used to service ATM’s.

A branch manager of a local credit union said the ATM’s aren’t just there to nickel and dime customers.

“It costs to use the ATM’s, so we have to have them serviced to keep them up. There’s people from the companies that run our ATM’s that come and do service calls for us,” said Hillary Alston, branch manager of Idaho Central Credit Union.

Bankrate surveyed the 25 largest Markets and found the highest fee at $5.15 in Atlanta, and the lowest at $3.85 in San Francisco.
