Hostage situation in Idaho Falls under control

Idaho Falls Police say a hostage situation is under control.

It happened in the 2600 block of West 17th South around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

A SWAT team was called out for a domestic disturbance. The person who reported this told police that a 41-year-old man was holding a woman against her will in a bedroom with a gun.

For the public’s safety, officers issued a Code Red alert to residents within a quarter mile asking them to stay in place in their homes and away from doors and windows.

Police ended their response after the man voluntarily came out of the house. The suspect is in custody.
