Possible non-property tax extension for Lava Hot Springs
City of Lava Hot Springs, is asking homeowners to vote on whether they’re in favor or against the extended non-property tax.
If the ballot is approved, the tax will be extended for the next 8 years, starting Nov. 20, 2015.
Taxes collect 3% from hotels, 2% from liquor establishments, and 2% in buying a new motor vehicle.
There will also be a second vote asking whether non-property tax revenues be used for land acquisition and building construction.
“It’s used for capital improvement, fire dept, sewer and streets, it’s for that. Recreation, parks, and we’re also adding using it for…well…for land pruchases and building…” said Mayor Marshall Burgin.
