Bus driver followed protocol after window was shattered by BB gun
A safety expert with Bonneville School District 93 says a bus driver did exactly what she was supposed to do after one of her windows was shattered by a BB gun Friday afternoon.
Safety expert John Pymm says if there is shattered or broken glass on a bus, they don’t drive it.
He says the driver made the right call by pulling over.
“You know, there may be some debate on whether she should have continued on,” said Pymm. “Certainly, if she were to come under some consistent fire, where it was obvious someone was shooting at her, she would not have stopped the bus. But in this case, she followed the procedure with the shattered glass.”
Three students were on the bus. None of them were hurt. Pymm says he talked to two of those students and says they are doing well.
A second bus also had a window shattered in the same area around the same time.
A juvenile was taken into custody Friday evening for shooting a BB gun at the buses.
