Shelley Parks and Recreation Director Retires

For more than 20 years, Dawn Lloyd or “Grandma Dawn” has shaped the parks and recreation in Shelley.

“There were no organized sports,” said Lloyd, in response to how things have changed over the years.

Since taking on the role, Lloyd created many sports programs including flag football, basketball, and baseball.

“It’s going to be very hard to replace her,” said Carolyn Monroe, a Shelley resident.

Walking through Shelley, just about everyone knows who Lloyd is and how she’s helped shaped sports in the town.

She’s being honored Tuesday at the City Hall in Shelley.
