Fire burns trailer on Hitt Road

The Idaho Falls Fire Department responded to and put out a fire in the area of 4400 North Hitt Road Wednesday morning.

The fire at the trailer home was reported around 11 a.m. Wednesday. The building was vacant at the time. The owner of the building reported the fire to the fire department.

According to the Idaho Falls Fire Department the fire was not caused by a space heater. Preliminary investigation shows the fire could be related to a fireplace inside the building.

The northbound lane of Hitt road was blocked for a short amount of time while fire fighters worked to put out the fire.

No one was injured or harmed as a result of the fire. The owners of the property say the home had been converted to be used as an office space. The owners also say that as much as $25,000 in property was destroyed in the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
